Our approach to AI can be summed up in four simple principles:

✓ The guiding voice will always be 100% human.

✓ Our nature sounds will always be authentic recordings.

✓ We may use AI where it enables things that weren't previously possible.

✓ Every decision is guided by one unwavering question: Does this create a better listening experience?

Why we believe this

The Honest Guys will NEVER use AI-generated voices. Ever. We believe the voice guiding you through a meditation should come from a real human being. This is a line we will not cross.

The same philosophy extends to our nature sound effects. We always strive to use 100% authentic field recordings of rain, birdsong, ocean waves, wind and other sounds from the natural world.

At the same time, we are not anti-AI and we want to be open and transparent about how we may use AI elsewhere.

Our Job

For 17 years, our goal has remained the same: to create the highest quality guided meditations we possibly can, while maintaining the human connection at the heart of our work.

If AI helps us achieve that, we'll use it. If it doesn't, we won't.

For example...

AI has allowed us to create artwork that accurately reflects places described in our meditations, something that was not always possible using stock images.

More recently, we've begun experimenting with some AI-generated background music. Why? Because for many years we've had to rely on the same tiny handful of licensed music tracks because other suitable meditation music was almost impossible to find. AI has finally made it possible for us to create the kind of background music we've always wanted for our meditations, but simply couldn't find anywhere.

The Heart of It:

The heart of every meditation we create is the human connection between the guide and the listener. Nature sounds, visuals and music exist to support that connection and create the best possible listening experience.

If AI helps us create a better listening experience without compromising that human connection, we will embrace it.
